A Christmas Carol at Wyly Theatre

Why see A Christmas Carol?

Scrooge's Christmas Treat Returns!

The Dallas holiday favorite returns! Adapted by Kevin Moriarty from Charles Dickens' quintessential work, A Christmas Carol cemented Christmastime as a time for felicity to our fellow men. Follow the penny-pinching boss Ebenezer Scrooge on a spooky journey of redemption in this glorious production as it returns to the Wyly for another fantastic year!

Ever since Charles Dickens first penned A Christmas Carol in 1843, it has seen myriad stage adaptations and the popularity of this tale of redemption and second chances has seemingly never waned. From stage to screen, opera to one-man show, it is one of the most influential Christmas shows and a traditional holiday outing that defines the joy of the Yuletide period for most of us.

What Is The Story?

Ebenezer Scrooge doesn't see the point of letting her employees have a day off for Christmas, not even kind Bob Cratchit, whose son Tiny Tim is very sick. Eventually, she is convinced and retires to his room to pass Christmas Eve as she usually does, alone. But this Christmas is different. She has a visitor for a change, the wretched soul of her former business partner Jacob Marley. Doomed to wander the earth for eternity for her sins in life, Marley warns Scrooge of three impeding visitations by a trio of spirits.

First She meets the gentle Ghost of Christmas Past who shows her as a happy young woman, the jolly Ghost of Christmas Present, who shows him what she is missing out on, and the terrifying Ghost of Christmas to Come, who shows her the future if she doesn't mend her ways; all of whom want to teach her a lesson about how her actions affect others, and ultimately, her own fate.

STUNNING.

My kids and I went to a Christmas Carol on opening day. I seriously have never seen anything like it. Every actor was amazingly talented in voice and in instrument. You felt like you were a part of the show I got snow and confetti on me and Bob Cratchit gave me a high-five. I want to go back many, many times. I am so heartbroken that it's not recorded and I can't watch it over and over. It was my first time, but i can't imagine any production better than this one. You won't regret seeing this. ... A Must-See Production!

Wow - what a great show. Our family went to the evening show on 12/17/19. We are so glad we went and would like to recommend it to everyone. It is definitely a must-see production of a very creative adaptation of Dickens' classic novel. What a rich array of multiple talents the show features - acting, singing and the music instruments! If you are long familiar with the classic story, you will be delighted by this version. If you are new to the story, you will fall in love with it. The message from the show is so moving and so important in today's world, after 176 years since Dickens' original was written. Plain amazing. We want to go again before it closes. Highly recommended. ... Read more
