TODD IN BOULDER

All of the best concerts I have gone to, have a common denominator - I knew nothing of the artist and their music at the time. No. 1 on that list - Todd, on the first Utopia tour. I'm still blown away. May 30 2019 in Boulder - I give it 4 stars because my wife loved it. He played most of his "hits" and "near misses", and maybe favorites of his that you wouldn't expect him to play, such as "Fair Warning". The songs I enjoyed the most were the ones I have heard the least, like "I Don't Want to Tie You Down". I bought all his records and played them heavily after seeing him the first time, and this is the third time since then. He's never measured up to the first time, but that is probably not his fault. The encore was Just One Victory. It felt great to sing along. But Kasim Sulton should be ashamed of himself for not even trying to play John Siegler's bass part in that song. C'mon, man! (I still miss John and Kevin Ellman.)

SOUND GUISE

Also a fan of all Rundgren music. Many great moments, especially the last half hour with audience participation. BUT I have to agree - something was wrong with the sound. We've been to many concerts at Massey Hall, and this one didn't stack up because of slurred sound - sorry to say.

OUCH

I am a true "Todd is God" fan. Utopia is truly utopian. Was so excited to see the show!! Which is why it was such a crushing blow to hear the HORRIBLE sound in the first set. Couldn't hear vocals, and the instruments sounded mushed together and indistinct, with the notable exception of the drums. Yikes! They were front and center, taking over the show. So disappointing, particularly from a genius who prides himself on the quality of his sound. Will always be a true fan, but this one hurt.

SEATTLE MOORE THEATER

Some good moments with Love is the Answer and One World, but overall I found it loud and boring. Sound was off and singing was not heard very well in first half; got better in the second set. I thought it was loud and heavy... He's a better singer than guitarist... Bassist's voice when singing solo was annoying...

TODD RUNDGREN/UTOPIA CHGO CONCERT

Not happy whatsoever. How can someone that is a pretty big musical artists such as taught himself, give a concert and spend the first 30 minutes of the concert, not singing at all, only playing the guitar. Then for the next 45 minutes so, he played songs that my sister and I have never heard. Apparently they're from his new album, I guess, don't know. He also played an ELO song. Um...really? How about playing a Utopia song!!! NOT happy at all! Also, re the Chicago Theater, the seating sucked. The seating is barely on an angle, and we couldn't even see the stage in front of us, only heads. Really disappointed overall. Never again Todd, sorry.

WORST CONCERT I EVER ATTENDED!

The sound in the theater was horrible! I am sure it wasn't the venue as I have attended other concerts there that have had incredible sound. Besides the poor sound he played 2 songs that we recognized from the past. This band reminded me of a garage band that is just getting started. We were so looking forward to seeing him and couldn't be more disappointed. When Todd was really playing his guitar it was never singled out and was barely discernable from the others in the band.

IS IT AGE ?

Saw Todd 4/26/24 in Akron. What a disappointment. First off it was noticeable he had a cold and struggled with his voice. Outside of two obscure Utopia songs the rest of the set list was relative unknown especially his Rap song. What surprised the hell out of me was his disconnect to the audience. There was zero talk until right before the last song of the encode when he introduced the band then after the last song thanking Akron and Cleveland. That was it! The encode was 17 minutes long long where he did a medley of bits of the oldies then one song after that the medley and that was it. I get he is 75 and I have utmost respect but compared to his last performance in Northfield a few years ago this was just a waste of time
