A celebration of female friendship
Set entirely inside a beauty parlour in small town Louisiana, Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias revolves around six women who regularly gather there to share stories and secrets and the bonds which form between them. A touching exploration of the comfort that we all draw from human friendship, this play is a warm and gently funny drama that always produces commanding performances from its all female cast.
Steel Magnolias premiered Off-Broadway in 1987, and has since become a favorite of local theatre companies. It was also adapted into an Academy Award-winning movie starring Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton and Sally Field.
