OKLAHOMA

I want my money back. The Carrie ending was bizarre. Wish I could give zero stars.

DANIELS FISH'S OKLAHOMA- BAIT & SWITCH

We purposely added Oklahoma to our subscription series. Big mistake. We knew this revival of Oklahoma was supposed to be dark & edgy. This was just BAD. There was zero chemistry among the cast members making the scenes awkward, despite their talent. The dancer, Gabrielle Hamilton, is so talented, but the choreography did nothing to show how amazing she is. On a bright note, the, musicians were excellent and the best part of the production. The set was boring and the stage crew was very conspicuous and distracting. The sound quality was terrible and fluctuated between inaudible to obnoxiously loud. The blackout scenes were confusing and too long. The whole thing was like a bad Avant-Garde film. Can't believe this won a Tony. The Kimmel should be embarrassed they put this show in their lineup. We feel Duped!!

ACTUALLY WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL IF THAT IS POSSIBLE

This was one of the worse performances that I have experienced. I am not a fan of the original but this took the story too far to the dark side. Casting must have hired the first performers to show up. I have been buying each season’s subscription for over 20 years. It may be time to look for an alternative.

DISAPPOINTED

I am a Broadway series subscriber and sadly this was the worse show I have seen in my 4 years as a subscriber. I actually left at intermission with many others. The performers voices were very weak, the set was plain and boring (not what I expected for the great musical Oklahoma) and once the show started it was very slow and boring. I kept waiting for the great musical numbers from Oklahoma and they never came. I think in someone’s attempt to modernize this great show, they ruined it. Very disappointed.

WOKE -LAHOMA NOT FOR ME

Wow. I loved Oklahoma as a child. Not this. What was the "message" being conveyed here? Was it trying for parody or sarcasm? Way over my head if that was the intention. None of the actors or actions connected with me. And the production quality --terrible. Too many dead spaces - was that for effect or did the actors forget lines? The dance sequence in the beginning of Act 2 -- Yikes! what was that? and it was unmercifully long. Why all the guns and violence? You'd think after A.Baldwin's gun/movie set issue, and the war in Ukraine...you could have shown some sensitivity. If you were going for realism, why not show ONE horse, pig, chicken, or corn stalk? I think Rodgers and Hammerstein are rolling over in their graves.... Save your money (these tickets were expensive!) and go to a local high school production of Oklahoma ... OK?

OKLAHOMA! IN PHILADELPHIA

I am a long time Kimmell Center Subscriber, and this was the worst Broadway show they have put on. Half the seats were empty and now I know why.

REALLY BAD

So many things to complain about the March PHL show. I’m completely in favor of diversity and equity in casting, but not when it makes the lyrics nonsensical. Singing about a 110 pound woman, when the actress playing that part weighs twice that or someone’s long blond hair when no one in the show has long blond hair is just confusing if you haven’t seen the original. The dream ballet sequence was uncomfortably loud and disconnected from the rest of the show. The dancer was talented, but I could not bear the volume or tell what it had to do with the story. I’ve seen better sets in high schools musicals and except for the dream sequence, there was almost no dancing. Finally, the reinterpretation of the ending was unnecessarily dark and pointless. I strongly recommend NOT seeing this show. Despite talented singers, it was just awful.
