ARE YOU KIDDING ME!

High school plays of Oklahoma was better than this. The acting was bad. The actors seem like they were at rehearsal reading from a script. They acted like they were sedated. There were whole scenes that were completely in the dark. The whole play scenery was picnic benches or a school cafeteria. All of the actors remained on the stage regardless if they were in the scene or not. People from backstage would come on the scene to clean up while the scene was going on. They had a dance scene of a lady in a sequenced t-shirt, who was pretty good, but what did it have to do with the play? Then there was random camera man in the face of the actors projecting the actors face on the screen. This may be call creativity, but it was just weird. I was done when Judd got shot and he calmly went to the edge of the stage and calmly laid down on the floor. Curly and Laurie had more blood on them than Judd. What happened to the dancing and beautiful dresses in the real Oklahoma?

OKLAHOMA NOT OK

I was expecting a more modern revision of this classic but was not expected anything quite like this. The acting was stiff in some cases with pauses during which I had time to think the actors forgot their lines. I did appreciate the diversity, the Ado Annie charachter was a bit of a stretch. Great voice though. Jud was sufficiently brooding but that was his one emotion. Curley and Laurie were fine but all in all I have seen better acting, sets and direction at our local high school. Professional theater reviewers seemed to like it which shows the gap between actual regular theater goers and ones who do it for a living. Not sure we were watching the samw performance.

ZERO STARS IS NOT AN OPTION

This was the absolute worst show I’ve ever seen. Terrible set, way too bright and visually unappealing and it never changed. Could not hear much of the dialog. Absolutely nothing like the original Oklahoma. Rodgers & Hammerstein would be appalled.

ONE OF THE WORST MUSICALS I’VE EVER SEEN

My husband and I love to go to Broadway musicals and were excited about going to Oklahoma! Unfortunately we were disappointed through the entire show- boring static set, musicians taking up prime stage real estate, dream dance that was unrelated to the show, boring dialogue delivered in the dark, confusing close-up video. These are just a few of the problems. Everyone around us felt the same! We were all wondering what was going on. The only enjoyment we had from the show was conversing with fellow theater-goers about how terrible it was. Save your money and don’t buy tickets to this remake!

OH NO

Unfortunately this production was my first time seeing any version of Oklahoma! I kept hoping it would get better but it didn't. Sis's performance as Annie is the only bright spot in this downer of a production, and I couldn't follow the story at all. I got the feeling the actors were not enjoying themselves, and there was very little chemistry between any of them--were they directed to be so monotone and disconnected? I found the dialogue over blackouts confusing, and the minimalist set design and odd blocking choices didn't help to clear things up, A crew member came very visibly onstage to remove a prop that an actor could have taken off. overall very unimaginative and depressing, so much so that I left at intermission along with a good chunk of the audience. I do not regret leaving before act II, but I do feel sorry for the folks who have to perform this every night.

AWFUL HIGH SCHOOL SET DESIGN AND INTERPRETIVE CHOICES

Set design was boring and all the same color. Character blocking choices (or lack thereof) was honestly stupid, they're all sitting around in silence until it's their turn to speak. Looked like a high school production - same with the costume choices. Voices were great, songs were OK, but both Pore Jud is Daid and the Dream Sequence were hideously embarrasing with video black/white sequences of close up faces, singing and silence is total darkness, and interpretive dance where she scoots her butt around on the floor, spanks herself, and pretends to gallop around on a horse. It all reminded me of the faux avant garde crap that a 1994-Fiona Apple Loving-NYU film student would have done for a final project. Totally misses the mark.

OKLAHOMA

I realize that the musical was supposed to be a Revival but it was done terribly. The city should be embarrassed as am I. I'm not blaming the actors as they probably need the paycheck. I know OKC can do better because they have, many times.
