THE GREATEST SHOW ON ASTO-TURF

Neil DeGrasse Tyson is great. His show is as entertaining and funny as it is informative and educational. It feels more like a friendly conversation that transitions from one topic to another very smoothly. I highly recommend going to see Mr. Tyson live.

FABULOUS SHOW!

Highly recommend! Surprisingly fun. You cannot help but hear the wheels turning in his mind. Would definitely go again, and disappointed the meet and greet was sold out. Next time, I will buy earlier!

LOVED IT!

What a great evening! Very entertaining and fun. If you get a chance to see this particular show, GO. As for some of the negative reviews, here are my answers. 1) Being late. I hesitate to blame Mr. Tyson for tardiness when at 7:30, a significant number of seats were empty. People were still streaming in when the show started. Hardly his fault. 2) The title of the show was An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies. That should have been a clue that it would be lighthearted and not Cosmos.

I’ve always been as admirer of him, but was my first time in person! And he did not disappoint; very fun and informative, enjoy hearing him talking about the galaxy and beyond & making it so fun & interesting. The show was over 2 hours, but felt shorter too. Bought his hook already too 👏🏻👏🏻

WONDERFUL AND INFORMATIVE SHOW ON SPACE AND OUR DELUSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

Neil Degrasse Tyson was entertaining and informative on the topic. He has a great sense of humor and shows his human side as well. He seems to be a gracious, considerate and yet, very logical man. The show was great and he wanted to make sure we were comfortable with time. Neil definitely makes you have a different perspective on planetary and space travel and its possibilities. What a brilliant astrophysicist and man!!!

I was very anxious for this event and disappointed in Neil's tardiness. While the movie information was interesting and fun, I was hoping to learn more from the event last evening. I have enjoyed watching Cosmos on Netflix and look forward to the new series. It would have been nice to have questions and answers from the audience at the end. Two hours was long and the seats were very uncomfortable. Nice socks.

DISAPPOINTING

I'll start by saying Dr. Tyson is personable and often times funny. However, my husband and I attended the show in the hopes that we would learn something. What we found was it was superficial conversation about very general topics. Perhaps we misunderstood but seriously, this was a rather juvenile presentation. We found the Q&A's at the end of the show to be more interesting than most of the presentation. With that said, the show started 1/2 hour late, which was rude. Dr. Tyson gave an explanation that he'd been traveling the world – that's great for you and I'm sure the majority were duly impressed. However, you had an auditorium full of people who paid for tickets to your show, who were not shown the respect they deserved.

DISAPPOINTMENT

Dr. Tyson is one of my heroes! The presentation Wednesday was disappointing. I don't know what I expected but this was not it. It was a tour down memory lane with photos and videos of rockets and big-fined automobiles and government funding vs private capitalist of space exploration.. Sigh

SELF PROMOTION

Tyson blind sided us by out of nowhere starts talking about 9/11. This did not fit into the rest of the show. Using photos and videos of people jumping out of buildings etc was ethically questionable at least. The message from Tyson’s pictures was look at how close I was. His comments about the physics of this tragedy were cold. I remember that day vividly and lost colleagues. To get a 57 year old man sobbing and weeping in his chair and have to leave to throw up in a performance is not ok. Shame on you Tyson. To use one of this country’s days in history to sell your book is terrible. Self promotion at the expense of respect for the dead is Inexcusable. My copy of the book handed to me is in the trash can. Shame on you. Shame shame shame

VERY DISAPPOINTING

My wife and I had much higher expectations for an educational evening. The show began with 15 minutes of political commentary on red vs. blue in Texas, COVID, and the acceptance of vaccines across demographic strata. Really Neil? We came to experience your renowned expertise and experience as an astrophysicist, not your political viewpoints! The next 10 minutes was spent promoting his books. Finally on to the show. Not serious, too many lame jokes (including farts), and more self promotion including his past tweets. If you're looking for superficial information on the universe supplemented by NASA videos and wrapped in ego and bad attempts at humor, this is your show. If you're seeking a more serious educational experience, take a pass.

MOSTLY MIDDLE SCHOOL CONTENT

When Dr. Tyson asked at the beginning of his presentation if anyone had been to one of his talks, no one raised their hand. Now I know it’s because once is enough. The first 20 minutes were political opinions with nothing to do with astronomy. Then there was the obligatory book promotion. Scattered throughout were the “clever tweets” self promotion. Finally, the astronomy was basic information easily found by reading a news site. I was disappointed as he skimmed the surface of black holes, dark energy, dark matter and quantum entanglement. I think Dr. Tyson underestimated his audience’s interest and intelligence. I taught most of his content including using some of the same videos to 8th grade science students. While he is a good speaker and very entertaining, if you are looking for deeper information I recommend skipping this “show.”

LOW SIGNAL, HIGH NOISE

First 20 mins was about his new book. Very light on interesting physics. Talked about zoolander and how you cant take off underwear just so he could show his cameo in zoolander 2 at the end. Watch his interviews on YouTube because the shows most complex science is about surface tension. Most of the show was him asking the audience if they had seen the movie and polling the children for their ages.
