Why See Dallas Opera - Sunken Garden?

Classical & Opera

US PREMIERE

After successful runs from the English National Opera and the Opera De Lyon, this mind melting opera from visionary Michel van de Aa finally makes landfall in the US courtesy of the Dallas Opera. Blending elements of film, videography, live performance, and fantastical visual effects, Sunken Garden is a boundary pushing masterpiece set to a score that fuses classical, pop, electronic and acoustic music to dizzying effect. Novelist David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas) delivers a compelling libretto that draws upon his beautiful Sci-Fi background.

ENTER THE GARDEN

Whilst researching the mysterious disappearance of IT engineer Simon and his socialite girlfriend Amber, videographer Toby finds himself butting heads with Zenna the representative from his sponsorship foundation. Toby thinks Simon and Amber have been taken, Zenna thinks he's crazy. But then Toby stumbles across a perplexing garden, a strange sanctuary on the edge of life and death, things suddenly become far more complex than first assumed.
