Why See Dallas Symphony Orchestra - A Bernstein Tribute?
Composer of West Side Story
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra presents a tribute to Leonard Bernstein, one of the most celebrated American composers of the 20th Century. Artistic director of the New York Philharmonic from 1957 - 1969, Bernstein wrote ballets and operas, numerous orchestral pieces, and even scored some movies, but is probably still best remembered for his musical theatre work. He composed the music for West Side Story, alongside new kid on the block Stephen Sondheim, as well as On the Town and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
This concert will feature music from throughout Bernstein's varied career. The orchestra will be conducted by Jeff Tyzik, and will be joined by soprano Nadine Sierra.
