Why See Dallas Opera - The Barber of Seville?

Classical & OperaClassic

Figaro! Figaro! Figaro!

Even after two hundred plus years, The Barber of Seville is still delighting audiences worldwide. The story of the enigmatic Rosina, and hi-jinx of her myriad suitors as they try to win her hand. Expect farce, disguise, intrigue and high comic energy as the Dallas Opera breathe new life into this famous tale, with set design by Allan Moyer, costumes from Jamie Scott and direction from Christopher Mattaliano.

Lucas Meachem will be delighting as Figaro, opposite Wallis Giunta as Rosina, and Alasdair Kent as of the lovelorn Count Almaviva.

What is the story?

We follow Figaro, the titular Barber of Seville and a self-made match-maker. His latest project is to ensure he can sprit away the beautiful Rosina to wed Count Almaviva, much to the dismay of her guardian Dr. Bartolo who wants to marry her himself. Will love win the day, or will Figaro's cunning plans fail? Either way, it's a highly entertaining ride!
